I have listened and read a lot about what is best. I have chosen to switch to Mobil 1 Synthetic, and Nissan filter. I thought this would be best. Anybody think different?

VG30E w/127,000

Got rebuild cylinder heads (timing pulley broke 10,000 before scheduled belt change) at 119,000 and rebuilt tranny at 105,000.

Also, what is the oil capacity of the VG, with filter, I got a 5 quart jug, but I need to now when to stop.

That really sucks about your timing pulley breaking like that.

I also use Mobil 1 but I use a Fram DG filter. I've never seen it compared to a Nissan oem filter, but I'd be interested to know how the two compare. Either way, I change the oil in my cars often enough that I don't think it really matters all that much which filter I use.

As far as capacity, I put in just under 4qts then checked it, added, checked, added, so on (because it really sucks when you over-fill). I think it ended up taking around 4qts, but I also use the 5qt jugs so I'm not sure.

I never get to put the amount Nissan states.

I have been doing my own oil changes for about 6 months now.

With a new Nissan oil filter, and after draining as much oil that comes out in 5 minutes, I never end up putting more than 3.75 quarts (dipstick right below the "Full" mark).

The manual states that it is supposed to take 4 1/8 quarts, but I dunno.
