I wanted to get a keyless entry system for my 92 SE, they run about $100-$150 at CarToys, but I'm wondering whether or not this is feasible since our cars already have that standard "Theft-deterrent" system. Since the alarm goes off anytime the door is opened without the keys being put in the door, would a keyless entry system set off the alarm every time you used it? I don't have the money to buy an entire alarm system now, i just wanted a keyless system. And I don't necessarily want to disable the entire theft-deterrence either. Anybody have experience with this? Thanks.

I have a keyless entry/alarm on my 91 SE aftermarket. Only everynow and then does it interfear with the factory alarm. By that I mean, when I hit the button on the remote then open the door the Nissan alarm goes off. Nothing major. It will work fine with no prob.

try ebay

I bought my keyless entry/alarm from there for $40. I installed mine by myself and it wasn't too bad. I was able to make it arm/disarm the stock alarm when I use the remotes which was pretty easy. On my website, I have wire color codes. They were the correct colors for my 93 SE. Some people have said they were the same in their cars and others have said they're different but it at least gives you some place to start and where to look for the wires.

email me if you have more questions

I had my Alpine security/keyless entry put in about a month ago, and it hasn't interfered with my factory alarm at all in my 91, GXE. The cool thing I like about it is, I can set both alarms if I want. So if someone tries to get sneaky and cut one, I have a back-up. Just use your remote on the times when you don't want your factory alarm to arm itself. And on the times you do, just lock it with the key.(Kind of takes away from the whole point of having keyless entry, but you can't be too safe). It's good for when I have to leave my car in the parking lot for 8 hours while I'm at work. I just go ahead and set both of them. But if you decide to just go with the keyless entry, then I believe you'll have to lock the car with the key for it to arm the factory system. There may be a way to have the relay from your keyless entry set the alarm...But I don't have any experience with that.

Whoever and whenever my aftermarket Code Alarm Keyless Entry was put in, I think they disabled my alarm. Ive tried my hardest to make it go off, but no luck. I have no idea what it even sounds like. The light on the dash still lights up like it should do, Im happy about that.

it's not too hard making the aftermarket alarm work in conjunction with the stock alarm
when I hit the remote on my car, it arms both and can disarm both

Well, I just went to Car Toys and had them put one in for me, and I explained to them about the factory alarm, and now the keyless entry both arms and disarms the factory alarm. Handy dandy.
