Hey guys. Just a quick question about where I can get an Under Drive Pulley for a VE. All I see are for VG Max's. Everything is VG this and VG that. I'm getting a little ticked off. I don't care if I can find one in a Group deal or not. I just really want one. Thanks

One Question

I have heard that the ASP UD pulley is not a perfect fit on the VE -- you have to shave it down to get it onto the shaft. I also heard that the belt recommendations they give are incorrect. Can someone confirm / deny this? I am thinking about getting one but do not want a big hassle on my hands. Thanks.

yeah its tight...you dont need to shave it but gently hammer it in,only the powersteering belt size they gave was a little small...the last 2 numbers on gates belt should be 75 or 78 ...for powersteering

Bolderdash! I have the ASP pulley. My dealership put it on because my crankshaft oil seal needed to be replaced anyway. They said it went on with no modifications and the belts are perfect. Numbers given are for Gates belts. Motor spins like a top now!

which is better?

I see that there are a couple of companies that make the pulleys but now I wonder which one makes the biggest difference or are the results close to the same? Which belt numbers exactly? And how come the pulley from Unothodox is so much? When I get one is it a set of pullies or is it just one. How much work is involved in installation. I have put a CAI, Y-pipe, and RT cat on but nothing technical at all. Thanks again.

a/c K040460, Alt. K050323, p/s. K0403778....as for installation if you have an air gun and mechanically inclined its simple...just as if your changing belts but while your doin that your also changin pulley...just jack up car pull passenger wheel and its all right there in sight

Hey I just ordered mine from Courtesy and was doing some searches and came up with the following quote from Dave B:

"Something to consider here. You've got a 3rd gen. The 3rd gens crank pulley is clearly defined as a "damper" in the Chiltons and Nissan manual, therefore I recommend staying away from the pulley.

I use to think the crank pulley on the VQ was a damper because I misread my Chiltons manual and didn't notice I was reading info about the VE/VG motors. The VQ is completely balanced and sports some very fancy race-breed internals (ie balanced). Believe me, I've researched this a lot and have asked many folks about this pulley because I had always been hesitant about adding a UDP."

Does anyone know anything about this? I don't want to install this thing and screw up my engine. BTW, how much would a shop charge to install this? Don't exactly have air tools yet. Thanks!
