Hi.
I would really appreciate anyone's help on the issue I am about to describe because I'm at a complete loss. I was driving my Maxima a for about 50 miles today, when I started to feel a slight jerk in the car. I tried pressing on the Gas, and it seemed like the car wasn't responding immediately to my increase in pressure on the Pedal, and then would buck some more. Finally, As speeds slowed down, the Bucking got worse and my pushing the gas pedal was responding barely at all now.. As I would push it about 10 times, and only 1 of the times did the RPMS rev up even a little bit- But even then--- the car just bucked some more.

In My opinion, it seemed like the engine wasn't getting enough fuel? But I definitely could be wrong because I am by no means a car expert. So. I have tried a few things. (1)I bought some water remover and put it in my tank- just in case that might have been the Problem... it wasn't.
(2)I replaced the Fuel Filter. Didn't help either
(3)I followed instruction about seeing if i had a faulty ECM on here.... That too has not worked.
Can anyone else think of what the problem might be? - It idles lower than normal and has small fluctuations in RPMS when i turn it on- but noticable to me. I can start it up and take it around the block for about 2 minutes- But then it will start bucking and losing that power like it did to me on the highway when i broke down. I don't know what else I could do, other than.. fuel pump or fuel injectors- i've heard?... I don't know that. Can someone else offer me some advice on what they think might be wrong? Thank you for your time.

go buy a fuel pressure gauge and take the hose that goes into the bottom of the fuel filter tapinto it with the gauge and then run a small piece from the bottom of the fuel filter to the other side of the tee of the fuel pressure gauge start the car and run it and go drive around with it slide it underneath the hood by the driver side wiper blade then close the hood and go for a drive and watch the fuel pressure when driving if any thing psi should not drop below 35psi at idle and should go up a bit when you accelerate. let me know how it goes!.

Bucking Maxima

My 1991 Max SE has been doing this intermittently for the past 3 years. I have replaced fuel pump, computer, harness, distributer/ignition wires and airflow meter - to no avail!!! It would drive for up to 5000 miles no problems bur recently, every 2-300 miles it would act up and then disappear.

The car would never act up at the dealer/mechanic except
for last saturday at Pep Boys - they now have it and trying
to diagnose the problem

Hmmmm

Sounds to me like you guys have clogged or bad injectors , mine did the same thing, one bottle of injector cleaner w/techron, solved the problem , now the only fuel I use is Chevron premium 91-93 w/techron, no probs since!

This could be a faulty maf sensor also. Trying cleaning the hot-wire w/ an approved cleaner. These are expensive so it a visit to a good mechanic w/ diagnotics capability might be in order.
