I read somewhere on a maxima website that its possible to bypass the amps (front /back) on the bose systems. That it was just not as loud but played fine nontheless. Is this possible or was i just dreaming it? FYI...It was for using the stock headunit also. Thanks, charles

i think you misunderstood what you read

if your using the stock bose head unit you dont bypass the amps,if you bought a new aftermarket head ,then you would want to bypass amps....an aftermarket h/u will work with bose speakers but will give you problems later on ,what people do is put new speakers in,and need to bypass the bose amp ,you bypass it by not using the 2 thick black and red wires going to each amp, other two left over are speaker wires

Just added a JVC headunit to my previously bose equipped maxima. kept bose speakers but bypassed amps.
works great
would NOT use bose amps on aftermarket non-bose speakers and head unit because u will be "double amping"
i was also warned about differences in ohms between the amps and speakers- but know unfortunatly little about that-so am just suggesting its something else u look into

found this on ebay which is a good option to go with (adaptor)

http://cgi.ebay.aol.com/aw-cgi/eBayI...tem=1268052395

or .... free way ... disconnect wiring harness that goes into speaker/amp box. There are 4 wires going into each speaker ,your goal is to only end up to use 2,the 2 wires you DO NOT use are the bigger size wires that are black and red ...those are for bose amps..with other 2 left over connect them directly to speaker ....any one else care to add $0.02 ,its been a while and maybe i left something out ,also maybe someone here has a page with pics
