Just installed Clifford Avant Guard 4 in my 91 Max, thanks for the help!
Hey guys, I just finished installing that alarm. For those of you that don't know, its the top of the line alarm that Clifford makes. It has all the sensors, options, and extra stuff. Too bad DEI owns them now, cause their alarms were great. Let me tell you that the installation was a pain in the butt!! It would have been more cost effective if I had paid someone to do it because itt took me three days to finish it, most of it was figuring out how to route the 8 million miles of extra wires that went into the vehicle and getting the steering column cover to go back on. At least I have the peace of mind that i know I hooked up the right wires and everything. I still have a bundle of bare wires just chillin down at the driver side kickpanels. Hopefully my new kickpanels that i'm going to fiberglass for my component speakers will cover them up.
I have a few questions about wiring in the vehicle now after doing it. I found TWO starter wires? Is that right? One of them is for when the engine is very cold, and it just helps the starter crank? I just cut the one wire, and connected the starter kill and remote start wires and tapped into the other one for the remote start. Also I could not find a wire directly for the AC/Heater controls, I figured that it used a feed off the ignition or accessory wires. I tapped the accessory wire for the remote start into a fat blue wire along the steering column. So when I remote start the vehicle, the radio comes on, but the AC/Heater also comes on which is good. But I didn't ever hook up the ac/heater wires from the remote start, so that means that it is probably running off the accessory line or the iginition wire.
As far as the factory alarm, I found the arm/disarm wires and my alarm has wires to connect for disarming it upon remote starting and rearming it after remote starting. And I also ran wires from the lock/unlock wires to the arm/disarm wires and used the diode that you guys had mentioned.
Any who, I got everything installed good except for my smart windows which let me roll up and down the front or rear windows with my keypad. I ran the wires for that so I just need go go back into the driver door and connect the wires right when I have time. Everything works good and nothing has blown up yet, so that is good. I would like to thank Craig for that wiring printout because almost all the colors and wire locations on there were the same for my car except for like 2 or 3 wires. I have a 1991 Maxima GXE by the way. I also want to thank you othe people that helped me with the wiring and stuff, greatly apprecited. Let me know if I can help you guys with anything!
