Looks ok I guess. I think I need a few more coats of clearcoat and then a good wax to get it shining a little more.

Do you think a chrome M A X I M A on the center trunk would look good? I'm thinking it looks a little bland at the moment.

Comments?

Wax that sukah!

Looks good though. I'd also like to know how you did it. I myself have been thinking about doing so and also adding the M A X I M A emblem... It'd be sweet!

Good luck..

This is how I did it...
I just removed the plastic center piece and sanded off the raised painted NISSAN and MAXIMA emblems on the trunk.
Then I removed the black rubber line on the bottom, middle and top part of the plastic trunk piece. Filled in the holes with bondo, primed and painted it. Like I said I think it needs another layer of clearcoat and yes a wash and wax and I'll be done.

any other questions just ask.

no dough!

Well it only cost me about $30 for the bondo, paint and clearcoat and a weekend of free time.

It gets a little bit complex I see... with the painting and all. Hmm... I'll go for it when I take my car to the body shop.

Once again, Congrats on a job well done and hurry up and add the M A X I M A to it...

Take pics... I wanna see man!

hold on.......

so you just painted over the plastic section??? is that what you did?? I thought you got a custom job done or something like my friend did on his 3rd gen, where they removed that whole piece and "refilled" it or something...oh well for $30 that looks really good!

Yes, I used the plastic piece as a guide basically and put a thin layer of bondo over it...sanded, primed and painted it. The only way you can tell it's not metal is by knocking on it otherwise I think it blends in nicely with the rest of the trunk.

I actually removed the plastic piece first and filled in the huge empty space with bondo and fiberglass but it was way too heavy, and the trunk release would barely open the trunk. So I opted just to paint over the plastic.

Needs a couple more clear coats, wax job, a wash and get rid of that key hole, bondo over it or somethin, you got the trunk release lever in the car, thats just my opinion...
