Im trying to make my own intake right now and get CAI later I dont have that much. So all i wnt ot know is what exactly do I need to construct it, and If I do it succesfully will it even increase HP?

And is there anything I can put in my engine (oil, fuel inject) that will increase performance a bit?

buy yourself a generic cone filter for $20 and buy the adaptor if your low on cash , theres no such thing as a good "homemade" intake

i made my own pop charger, its not exactly tough. i went to my local shop and ordered an MAF adapter with a 3" outlet. when it arrived i put my old cone filter (because my parents sold my old car without swapping) on and bolted everything up. sounds great, nice increase in power although i have noticed a little low end loss which is especially bad when my car is suffering from "ve heat stroke". after i pay my insurance i'm having an exhaust shop make me CAI piping and i'll pick up a K&N filter, hopefully i'll see more low end power than i do now.
MAF adapter:$16
filter:$19
the noise this setup makes: priceless

You can make your own Pop-charger for about $25 (the cost of the filter). You have to use a piece from the stock airbox. If you look inside the stock airbox there is this brassy looking copper piece. This is the perfect thing to mount the filter. Just drill out those two rivets, mount the filter on there, and then put it on the car. I noticed a small increase in power mid/high end, and a small decrease down low. It also sounds awesome.

Oh, I agree with James92SE. After I did a search, I saw that James did an intake for cheap. I did the same thing. I went to Pep Boys and bought the APC filter ($25) with the hole in the top. I got that brass piece out of the stock airbox (FREE) and it fit perfect. I can really feel the extra power on cool nights going faster than 4K rpms. I am not sure if I lost low end power, that's how subtle the change is. But, I absolutely love the sound above 4K rpms. If you are just cruising around town driving normal, you won't hear the change in noise. But, step on the gas... OH YEAH!

maybe if i got a bigger filter, there would be a louder sound and less low end power...hmm...cant wait till i get paid.
