car bogging from stop
car not accel from stop when warm
my car is an automatic, lately when accel.. from a stop the car is very sluggish even when depressing the pedal quite a way down.. like it's bogging down.. same if I start in first or drive. done the self diagnosis with the engine light and get code 55 ( no malfunction ) and also get the Oxy sensor OK code ( 5 times in 10 seconds ) any thoughts would be really great... Thanks.... something I should mention which might help someone diagnose the problem is that the car accellarates normally when it is cold... the oxy sensor which was my first suspect because according to the Chilton manual the oxy sensor is out of the loop when car is warming up. I have cleaned the throttle valve assy..
and changed the air filter ..any help ??? I'm afraid to take it to dealer, first problem with car since purchase in January..anybody know about White Rock Nissan .. Thanks again

sounds like another about-to-die tranny. best to check tranny fluid and engine oil. your clutch could be slipping and that means a tranny rebuilt

Does the colour of your automatic fluid look nice and red or is it a brownish colour? It should look nice a red and not smelled burnt (BTW - An automatic does have a clutch just not in the traditional sense)
Another thing too check could be your air filter. If you have a VE motor these do suffer from "Heat Stroke", but I don't know mnuch about this as I have a VG.
Try some fuel system cleaner also.

Have you changed to a non OEM panel filter? I had nothing but problems when I changed to a K&N panel filter. The ECU would lean the car out at idle, OK at WOT. Could also be a clogged fuel filter.
Has your fuel consumption changed for the better or worse in recent times?

Auto Trans
I have the same prob w/ my 92SE Auto.... I took it to my Nissan dealer and they diagonosed it as a blown tranny. He said that the trany is in a "failsafe" mode and that it is starting out in 2nd gear (hence the poor acceleration from start). He told me that when the fluid is cold, it will run fine, but as soon as the fluid warms up w/ the car it will break down and cause the problem. I'm going to get a second opinion from another shop as well as flush the Tranny fluid as a temp fix. I just bought the car and can't stomach an $1800 repair right now....
I thought there was some form of visual indicator lamp for when the tranny is in fail safe mode?
92SE, I know this is going to sound stupid, but if you have the 'Power / Normal / Hold' switch just below your stereo, check to make sure it isn't in the Hold position.
Just a thought.

Re: Auto Trans
Failsafe mode starts the car off in 3rd gear, not second (at least on the VG)
As for the sluggishness, this is becoming a common problem and it appears that the MAF is the culprit. My 92 SE accelerates fine when cold, but is more sluggish when warmed up. If I can, I want to get ahold of a used MAF and try it out. I asked in another post if there is a way to clean this device.
