was told about a site that sells exhaust "cut outs"
This is a valve (dashboard controlled) placed before the cat which will simply redirects your exhaust from its intended path , directly out of the side of this mechanism.
(go to exhaustcutouts.com for more info)
has anyone tried anything like this before? the obvious problem seems to be low end torque (or lack thereof with the absence of backpressure) but the concept almost seems "do-able"
any thoughts?

You will......

lose almost all your back pressure with that since you're cutting out the catback and muffler, the result will be a loss in most of the torque, which is what the VG's strong point is...you don't need that thing, maybe on a serious SC'd or Turbo'd car, but not on an NA Max! and a VG Max lacking low-end torque, I don't know about that....that 181ft(or ~150ft to the wheels) kicks in really nice off the line!
