Anyway, you don't really need to buy new horns, just get some used ones, I rarely hear about the horns going bad. Maybe it's the electrical connection or something. It's easy to take out and put in a new one.

Removing horn cover?
Can anyone advise me how to remove the plastic cover above the horn on the steering wheel? Any tips about what to look at for as far as cruise control buttons? I also believe the problem to be electrical. From glancing at the plastic cover it seems as if their are no screws and that there is probly some sort of snapping mechanism between the cover and the wheel.
Any help would be appreciated.

Same problem
Just the other week the horn on my 98 Maxima started working intermittenly and even when it does it's usually a very weak sound. It seems this thread died and I am wondering if there is any advice for this.

just pull off the cover and
be carefull, you need to use controled pressure when pulling off because you will rip the cruse control right out, it is connected to a wire with about 3 inches of play and The cover is held on by 4 metal clips one in each corner of the pad. I just had to repair mine because some f@#$ing meathead was talking on his phone and came over into my lane almost scuishing me between the cement wall and i punched the horn when i flipped out and it stayed on. anyway it has a crumple cage on it kkind of like a wrecked volvo, with a plastic face on it. When the metal contacts the bronze it completes the circut and sounds the horn( you'll see what i mean when you take it off), but you want to be able to push on the pad comfortably and have it make contact, and all you have to do is adjust the gap between the 4 contacts and the metal cage by pushing or pulling, i had to pull mine back out, but it works better than new now, it took me 5 minutes and it is the 2nd fuse down on the left hand side of your fuse box. if this doesnt work then, just check power and fuse, there is not much at all to the horn system, very basic.

Hey, Man, I just talked to my dad, who is a Nissan Technician. He said that you should check the horn itself. He said that you should have someone push in the horn button while someone else checks to see if 12 volts is applied to the horn itself (In front of the radiator on the car I think). If there is 12 volts, then you have a bad horn. That's probably what it is.

Hmmm, it's prolly not the combination switch then. I don't recommend doing it yourself if your car has an airbag. I would take it to the dealership, cuz they know the most about your car.
