Looked though the circuit city add and i see 2 400 watt 10" mtx subs, a box and a amp, 250 watts bridged 2 channel amp all for $299.
You guys think this is a good deal? Will these bump pretty hard and make some noise you think? 10's are a little small, but ive heard some incredible sounding 10" subs before, well tell me what you guys think of this, thanks.

I agree with bucktown; however, MTX has come a long way since they first started, they are SOMEWHAT decent. Jensen also makes a nice 12" subwoofer (for it's price), my Perfects would eat them alive though ;p

RF is better than MTX, in my opinion. What are you looking for in your system?

i install that setup in my friends honda civic hachback and it thumped good. but in a maxima you are going to need a bit more power and better subs. it all comes down to how much you want to spend. my friend did not want to spend that much so i told him to get that set up. good luck

Yea, im basically trying to get the best thump for the buck, and i dont have that much to spend, i'd like to keep it as far under $400 as possible, but then i see these deals in the paper, and i just wonder whether their worth it, because that is like the ideal price that i want to spend, around $300, but i guess i could go up to $400 which i still dont know what i could get for that.

Also for hte poeple that have subs in their cars, on the outside does it make all that annoying ghetto rattling you always here on crappy cars, like the trunk vibrating and the liscence plate vibrating on the car? Or is it nice and soft on the out side, just like on the inside. thanks

Well the rattling on the outside depends on how loud the subs are on the inside. If your system hits hard it will rattle some, but for want you want you probably wont have any rattling. If you just want something that adds some clean bass I would go with that setup you looked at. They arent the best quality but it is a good price. If you end up not liking them I guarantee you could sell them and make money off of them. Its all about how you wire the subs. If you wire them correctly you can make even a crappt jensen sound decent. I had two 12" Mtx's that hit 138db, and they were the crappiest ones. No one would believe it until they sat in the car.

92GXE, touring wing, 18” racing wheels, Port&Polished intake, custom intake, custom yellow interior, racing seats, back seats taken out and replaced with subs and amps, NOS kit, Suspension tech. Lowering springs, custom grille, soon to be custom painted and have the whole engine rebuilt for big shot NOS and custom SC and tranny converted to 5-speed.

Wiring is the key. If you do buy the subs, spend the extra $100 and get another amp and run each amp mono to each sub for more power. I've had two Maxima's and it seems that the sound from the trunk is hard to get to the front. I've got two Kicker Comp. 12's pushed by an Alpine 1000 ran in series wire configuration with an Optimus batt. and a capacitor, everything shakes, even the stearing wheel, not to mention blurred vision! I tried wiring it parralel and the sound was cut by half. You know, ohm ratings and all. But, if I recall, Circuit City usually has a buy one sub get one free deal. You could do that, build your own box for around $30, and spend the other $250 (est) on a really good amp (try a used amp, you could get a kick butt amp used for $250)!

sub

MTX is good...RF is better, but its all opinions. This is because i like deeper/louder bass-the RF's....The MTX's are still loud but tighter bass, more accurate/clear. I listened to RF HX2 and MTX 8000's.
Heard goo things about JL but never heard them (that I know of). For $300 look into best buy's "party package" two 12" fosgate subs, RF amp, and bow for around that price.

The 3rd Gen Maximas trunks don't rattle as much NEARLY compared to how much cars such as Hondas rattle...but once you crank that bass up, it'll rattle. ;p you win some you lose some. I've never seen a family sedan's trunk flex from so much bass after I had my system hooked up ;p

Chris is right, wiring IS VERY IMPORTANT, your system will only sound as good as your power and signal wires are. As for the amps, you do not need to buy two seperate amps, buy one good class D amp, it will power your subs nicely, use less power, and put out more compared to the other amp classes (a/b,a,b). The class D amps are also TINY, my amp is about half the size as the Alpine V12s, and it puts out more power
