i made a post a few days ago when i was listneing to the radio and all the sudden the font left speaker made a loud pop and then a loud SQUEAL like a girl screaming. when turning the radio off, it would also POP. sometimes after turning the radio on, id drive for a few mins, and it would squeal for a moment, and sometimes it wouldnt stop unless i turned the radio off. adjusting BAL and FADE doesnt make any difference of course. so for a week straight i couldnt listen to the radio. 2 nights ago i turned on the radio and no longer heard a pop, and since then the speakers have been working fine . someone mentioned it mightve been the amp capacitor leaking? does anyone know if this problem, and the problem self correcting like this? can i expect soon that the speakers will screw up again? any input appeciated, thanx

I have/had that crackling and LOUD sound in my rear speaker, so I just disconnected the amp. I also have that popping sound when I put in a CD. I have no idea what the problem is or how to fix it. I'll probably just buy new amps from http://www.davescoolstuff.com . You might want to direct your question toward him. Most likely, he'll know the solution.

Me too.

Yes, the amp is bad. This happened to me too, you can go in the trunk and unplug it until you can replace it

Front speaker

It is not separate. But you can still unplug it by going inside the door panel.

You can replace all the capacitors in the unit. I've had a 75% success rate doing it.

I had a problem with the drivers side front speaker. It would be alright some time and then unbearable static other times. I took the door apart and tested it hooked up to the passenger side and it worked fine. The wiring for the amp must have been dodgy because I ran a wire from the passenger side amp to the driver side amp to power it.

ie not the actual speaker signal, just the power supply to the amp.

if this helps.
This was in an 89se. I now have a 1995 Se due to the 89 heater core problem which resulted in a busted ecu.
