I have a double din AM/FM cassette (no CD), not original. The radio works fine, but I can't get tapes to play. The lights come on, the motor runs, it'll switch directions and everything, but no sound comes out. Are there separate outputs for the tape and radio (seems like a longshot, but ???), or is it just totally screwed up? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You say the deck is not original, but mention Bose. Which is it.

Tear out the bose and build a new system. The bose system was nice as a stock option when it first came out. Now, almost 10 years later, bose sucks.

If you have any questions about building a new stereo system, feel free to email me.

The deck is most likely faulty now, and is not worth fixing.

The deck is a Bose unit, but not the original one. The dealer said it came from an Infiniti, but who knows?

I'm not going to tear the whole thing out, as it sounds great (the radio, that is), and I just had both the rear amps rebuilt. Thanks for the offer of assistance, though.

Dave, you know if you REALLY want one, I've got mine that I pulled from my Max. Since I'm in the process of selling my amps from the speakers, that'll probably preclude my putting it back in. Mine worked fine when I took it out, but the cassette needs a bit of cleaning. Make me an offer.

If it turns out to be something terminal, I may take you up on that. Is it single or double din, and does it also have CD? Thanks, Dave
