91 SE Electrical/ Mechanical issues
I am trying to figure out where to start to fix the following problems:
1) when the engine is started from a cold start i get no signs of engine trouble till i take off and then it hesistated just in the first two gears. Like a studder. Only lasts till it warms up then its fine. If i turn it on and off 3 times in a row to reset the brain then it goes away for a day or so. Any ideas?
2) i had a system in my car but it was professionally installed when i got the car. I noticed at stops the lights dim and when i use my a/c or any kind of electrical system it makes the sound distort. But now that my amp is out and my head units are at the kenwood facotry i noticed i still have similar problems even with no radio. When headlights are on if i hold all 4 window up/down buttons for a few seconds it makes my headlights surge. Lime they get brighter for a split second then go back. Any ideas?
I have not added anything to the elctrical system since i got the car, and the trans was rebuilt bout 8 months ago. but could it still be the tranny? HELP

1) Auto or 5 speed?
2) Have you alternator checked could be on its way out. You can check the voltage at your battery with all your accessories on (lights, AC etc). Your manual should say what the voltage should be with the car running.
Brent.

There are hoses below the battery
That connect to the fuel evaporation canister. I removed my battery while installing my CAI and notices several lines broke. Junk yard gave me the canister and I replaced it along with new lines. Worth checking. It's hard to see.
Sounds similar to a problem I had. If you have the VE motor it is most likely the temp sensor for the auto. I believe these corrode up on the connections but can be cleaned up OK. When the auto fluid is cold the car will shift differently (usually it won't lock up 1:1 with O/D on) until the fluid reaches a certain temperature.
On mine (VG) I found a sensor (it is either oil pressure or temperature - I don't know) which is just behind the oil filter that was covered in oil. So I cleaned that and checked all connections were tight there and elsewhere around the auto. Problem solved.
Hope this solves your problem too.

update
today i used carbon cleaner, new spark plug wires, and throttle body cleaner, and regapped my ngk v-powers to .39 instead of .45. i noticed a drematic increase in torque after doing these things. and i didnt get any hesistation from it yet. we will see tomm morning. i will tell you then. still no word on my electrical problem. the alternator and battery both checked out ok. i think its just some wire somewhere. its weird but when i showed my mechanic friend he told me its just alot of electricity drawwing and its no big deal just get a capacitor. but if it does it without a radio i dont think a capacitor will help. he recommended a line noise filter for the engine. we will see.....
