Flexible Pipe Repair
Flexible Pipe Repair
Hey all,
The flexible portion of the front exhaust pipe (Y-pipe) on my 92 GXE is rusted and developed a small hole. I checked the other sections of the pipe and they looked OK. I don't want to spend a lot of time to remove the whole front pipe and also try to save some $, so I plan to cut off the flexible portion and replace it with this part I found on the JCWhitney website:
http://www.jcwhitney.com/product.jhtml;$sessionid$GBX54AAAAALNHWBBLJTSFFGYEFNGMIV0?CATID =176678&BQ=jcw2
My questions are:
a) What's the best tool to cut it off? A hack saw?
b) What's the diameter of the pipe and how long?
c) Should I use the supplied clamps, or welding is a better choice?
Thanks in advance...Dennis

this should be welded. I would recommend taking it to a muffler shop and paying them to do it for you.
I know it's more $$ to spend, but at least you know it will be done right and won't leak on you.
