Refurbished Fuel Injectors

Refurbished Fuel Injectors
Has anyone ever bought refurbished fuel injectors? I did a search and noticed there's a few companies that do this. The local dealer wants $125 per injector, Courtesy said about $91. What do you think?

Re: Refurbished Fuel Injectors
I have considered sending mine away to have them ultrasonically cleaned and reconditioned. So I did some research and in the end I came to the conclusion to just replace them all when the time came (and the money). The cost for reconditioning is about $25 per injector. This includes cleaning them, new filter screens, new o-rings, polishing or replacing the pintles.
They do alot of tests before cleaning them, One thing is an Ohm test, another is a current load test, If they are out of spec. with the two above test they get thrown out. I was able to do these tests myself and found them to be in good order. The one test that they do that I cannot is a leakdown test to see if the body of the injector leaks gas (this is what I believe to be the culpret in my engines case, she is missing once and a while and my fuel economy is'nt quit up to snuff but not bad). The reason I've decided against having them cleaned is that the coil within the injector will eventually fail due to the excessive heat they endure, The company I was looking into say's that injectors typically dont last more than 150,000 miles. Another reason that the injectors fail due to heat is when they become clogged there wont be enough gas passing through the injector to cool it down. This is why its important to use injector cleaner every so often.
The price you were quoted for the courtesy injectors do not include the o-rings (and also the filter screen If I rememmber correctly). So they charge some rediculous rate for them.

$40 vs. $200+
Ive had 1 injector go bad & replaced it with a (used)refurbished for $40. No problems in two years. I would do it again if I have the same prob. I don't know where the mechanic pulled that spark plug from, it may have just been from a salvaged maxima in his lot.

When I had to replace four of my injectors, I looked into the refurb
situation as Car Parts.com had some refurb ones I could buy (after
using an electronic discount coupon) for around $65 each plus core.
Since I could get brand new OEM Nissan injectors from UltimateZ for
$84 each, I opted for the new ones instead. Yeah, I know, should've
replaced them all, but at the time, I was low on fundage and had to
do the labor myself (was pretty easy actually if you know what you
are doing and when it comes time to do the two old ones, it'll be
easy enough).
Unless the price diff is large, the piece of mind of getting new
injectors is worth the extra $$$...

i was looking in the JC whitney catalog (i know i know..) and there are "universal" injectors for like $32ea. starting at 23lb/hr. would these be good replacements or should i stay away from 90% of the stuff JCwhitney sells?
