auto problem in a 91 se
Hello every body!
My car have a problem with the transmition, its a auto one. When Im driving in a crusing speed and i hit the gas, the gear takes like 1.5 secons to come any gear!, also sounds like a hit in the transmition. A friend of mine told me its the torque converter, becase its feels like a spinning cluth in a manual transmition because the revolutions are going up but the car its not pushing the in a couple of seconds the car starts to push hard. Any body knows what kind of problem do I have? have you seen this before?, how can i fix it?
Any help will be apreciatted!
Thanks!

Okay, so is it like this(?): You're driving along and you want to step on the gas to accelerate (maybe down the road or maybe coming off a intersection turn) but instead of downshifting normally and taking off all you hear is the engine revving up for a second, then there's this thunk and the car jerks a little like the clutch got engaged, and then the car works normally. Is this it?
If so, this sounds like slipping clutches inside the transmission. This could be due to 3 things (that I can think of):
1)Low transmission fluid - not enough pressure to engage internal clutches
2)Blockage in transmission valvebody (complex passages inside to route fluid to different places)
3)Worn clutches. Bad news is then your due for a rebuild.
Hope this helps

mine too
My auto tranny is doing the same exact thing, slipping between gears, up hills, accelerating, going in and out of overdrive, jerking into gears. I'm getting a fully rebuilt tranny from www.phoenixhardparts.com for $775 off e-bay they have a 6 month unlimited mile warranty and 12 month if you want. I should be getting it in about a week or so. I'm putting it in myself, and I'll let you know how it works.
