What type of mods can I put on my 91 Nissan Maxima Se to achieve 300-325 at the wheels without using a turbo or a supercharger. I'm on a semi-fixed budget and can only afford to spend so much a month. How does NOS sound? If so what brand name is best and what other mods can I install? Also how hard is it to install NOS into my car? Sorry about all the questions.

300-325 at the wheels!? that would be one huge shot of nitrous. that just doesnt seem realistic to me at all. especially if your on a budget. with that big a shot, you'd have to do major mods for your car to handle the load. maybe 225-250 at the wheels if your lucky and thats pushing it, but i dont see 300+hp happening at all. the vg's only have like 106hp(i think) at the wheels. that 160 hp rating is at the crank. max's lose a ton of hp before it gets to the wheels. but with tons o' money anythings possible.

You're going to need 400 HP at the crank to put down those numbers. It's possible, but your internals won't last very long unless you upgrade to lighter and stronger alloys.... $$$$

a 150 shot of NOS is possible, along w/ a full exhaust, intake, upgraded fuel pump, colder spark plugs, yada yada yada

ok so basically u want to go faster than a 300ZX TT in a VG30E engine w/o boost?? good luck...
the words "budget" and "speed" does not go in the same line. this is a very expensive hobby..you can't do it 1/2 assed and expect 100% reliability.

Turbo or NOS is gonna be your shot. Better beef up those internals, and CV's, and tranny.......

Working on a big shot myself. first process is getting forged alluminum pistons and rods. Definitely dont try it without it. Theres a couple of other things you need to but its gonna be immpossibe on a fixed budget.

92GXE, touring wing, 18” racing wheels, Port&Polished intake, custom intake, custom yellow interior, racing seats, back seats taken out and replaced with subs and amps NOS kit, Suspension tech. Lowering springs, custom grille, soon to be custom painted and have the whole engine rebuilt for big shot NOS and custom SC and tranny converted to 5-speed

What I can spend is around 350.00 a month on mods. What could I buy with about six months worth of saving.

It really depends on how mechanically inclined you are. You can get a NOS kit for around $500. That would give you another 80hp without modifying anything else. Then you could get a turbo from an old Z and put it on your car. I found one for $300. This is gonna be a lot of work but the longer it takes the more money you can save. You definitely dont have enough money to modify your engine for a big shot of NOS.

well six months of saving would give you about 2k and you could do just about all of the basic bolt ons with that. or you could save another six months and get a custum turbo for the car if you want to go that route. that's what i would do with the money. but either way it'd be hard to get 300+hp at the wheels.

Ok since you guys know awole lot more than I do about mods. What type of mods would I need to add 300-325hp to the flywheel.

Re: Modifications

it sounds to me like you just want to be able to tell your buddies that you have 300 horsepower. why don't you just do ALLLLLLLL the bolt on aftermarket stuff you can, do the suspension, and get her allllllll ready, then maybe rebuild your engine, bore it, stroke it, put an ignition in it, higher compression pistons, lightweight flywheel (i found one!!), port and polish the head, port N polish the intake, big exhaust, then start thinking about a turbo or NOS cause you'll have the motor to take the punishment. DOn't forget your tranny though. If you're pushin that much power through it, especially an auto slushbox, you're gonna need to build it. if it's a standard, you're gonna probably wanna replace the syncros, and shifter bushings and you're gonna want to replace all the mounts. Don't forget a heavy clutch. OH, and you'll probably blow out your CV joints so you might wanna pick up an extra set of em. Don't forget, with more compression with those pistons (if you can find em), you're gonna have to run high octane gas. OH and a CAM!!! totally forgot about that. put a lobey cam in, and probably a computer. Then you'll have a bad *** maxima. But hey, this is coming from someone that gets over 300 at the wheels out of a Honda CRX.

where'd you find a lightened flywheel?
Unorthodox just now delivered the first production models to Kaleb, and they're the only ones out there at all that are making them.
