Ok,

at some point or another we all decide how to trick our cars out. Some do this for show, some do this for speed, others just mix it up and make what is called the Ghetto ride. We have all seen these cars. They have loads of tint, shiny wheels, big noisy tips on their stock mufflers, systems with annoying trunk rattle, wings so big that the only downforce they could possibly get would be from the 200lbs. it weighs. I love to pull up to a light and look at their 18 or 19 inch rims (which is unsprung weight and slows you down), and see their car sitting higher than some Suv's, trunk rattling like crazy from their two sad 12's in the back with waaaaaaaay too much JENSEN (LOL) wattage going to them. I prefer to flip em the bird and leave them sitting in a cloud of tire smoke, as i know that my car may not have all the cool shiny rims and hazy tint, but it's got it where it counts. Help me speak out against ghetto rides. Join "PAGR" people against ghetto rides and fight back. It's time we win our streets back.

(this is intended to be funny. I'm sorry if you take offense to it, but hey, if you did, you're the one that took 1 second of your 1/4 mile time by adding 18 inch rims, not me)

Better watch those middle finger salutes to a car like that .... one day you may find yourself face to face with some kind of cap popper..... very scary... I keep my middle finger salutes to myself these days. It isn't worth getting yourself killed.

Ah the Accord has a 93se motor? A Nissan 93se VE30de motor?? And is that some kind of water or bleach I see near the skid marks?

bleach is for wimps

I used NO bleach, oil, tranny fluid, etc to help my burnout. that was it. I'm gonna post pics of the accord tires after we were done. the one was bald. we melted the mudflap off the left front side too. as for the motor. It has a 93 honda SE motor in it. hard to find, but it's also got headers, intake, 5speek, heavy clutch, etc. His burnout was only a one legger. oh well, the max hooked up alot better, and again i stress, i did not use any fluids on that burnout, and the tires were NOT dry rotted, they wear 8 month old Dunlop's.

I dont hate "Ghetto rides" that much....

Actually, I'm not all that performance oriented myself, car is for transportation 1st, I rather 1st make it comfy, and nice looking just the way I like it, maybe improve handling and such.... performance is cool, but I live in NYC, heavy traffic everywhere, no speed limits exceeding 50 or so... basically drive pretty slow most of the time.. 400$ Y pipes, exausts, chips, Nitro kits and such are things I'd put in when I would have the $... I have trouble keeping up with repairs and maintenance.

I actually wanted Chrome rims. more attention when rolling down crowded streets right after a car wash... see the chrome blinding people.. then the system moving peoples ear drums out of place... its nice.. I think I'd want to keep 2 cars, 1.. something like a 3rd gen, for performance only.. then something like a Q45 with 19" chromes, system, and tints..

Re: I dont hate

Believe me,

I understand the importance of a system. In the back of my jeep i had 4 PPI flat twelves running off of 2 PPI 600A amps, pushing around 1500 watts or so. i could get my wipers off the glass. I had chrome rims, a lift, but i built the motor to back the looks. All i'm really sayin is if you have the looks, you should be able to back it up.

i hear what you are saying

i real "ghetto rides are the hondas or what ever that have no muffler(for about 20 or so hp) which is loud as he!!. chrome wheel covers from pep boys for 29.95. cut springs. different color hood ordiment(sp?). double windsheld wiper that are chrome. that is my idea of a ghetto ride. i have mostly apprearnce mods. and a few proformance mods. does this make my max a "ghetto ride"?

Re: i hear what you are saying

depends how you use it man. Do you drive on the left or the middle of your car? Do you talk like your max is the pimp s@#t? Do you pull up at stop lights like you got somethin to prove? it all just depends. When you pull up to a light and get roasted, doesn't it bug the heck outa you? I mean, if your car looks cool, that's awesome and stuff, but if some guy in a civic just toasted you wouldn't you be embarrassed? I would be. But hey, i'm a believer in the Sleeper. Where they never see it coming. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate show cars, but i just couldn't deal with getting toasted. Myself, i have headlight covers, window air deflectors, hood bra, and some different badgeing. but that's it as far as cosmetics. I think my ride is even a bit ghetto cause of the headlight covers. It's up to you dude.

My car is all looks....and i could care less if a little ricer roasts me down at a stoplight. Just like other people have said in the past....maxima's arent made to be speed demons...even there are a COUPLE out there. way too much money for such an old car (in my eyes) Looking good is my thing....trying to be faster will only get you tickets. Trust me ive been there.

just my 2 cents

I'm basically all looks. I've got a y pipe and intake, but they can't shave a whole second off a slow VG auto I mean, if you want to loan me some money for some nitrous or for a turbo protype, I'll email you my address. Until then, I will finish modding the outside.
