Do not use Midwest Engines!

Check my link for photo point to see some pics of the engine they sent me and then screwed me by refusing to replace it! They did replace the waterpump though, how nice (sarcasm). I'm in the middle of the rebuild. My advice, get the most complete engine you can for the least amount as possible and simply rebuild it. That way there's very little doubt on its dependability. Gaskets, freeze plugs, thermostat, timing belt, timing belt tensionor pulley, rings, etc. Plan on replacing turbo becuase they won't guarentee it to work anyhow, you're lucky if it does.

if he wants to do a Z31 300zx single turbo engine which is RWD it can be mounted trnasversely to fit the FWD config of the Maxima....I was once confused on how this works too, but apparently it links right up so to say!

not easy but not very difficult either....most z31 swaps(of the 3 or 4 I've seen/heard if)cost anywhere from $4-5k....enigne mounts right in there, the major probs are correct tuning, custom piping and engine management. the fit and trans config are direct fit, not custom work needed!

Why would you want to do this? Don't forget, you have the same engine configuration as a Z31. The same intake runners and the same dual throttle bodies. The only thing that is different is that you don't have a turbo. Why don't you concentrate on turboing the Max instead. It'll come out cheaper.

there's a guy that lives across the street from my sister that's got a wrecked Z31-T... still runs and drive.. it's a 5 spd.. he wants $500 for the whole thing.. if you're SERIOUS about it, send me an email and I'll figure out how to get in touch with the guy..
but if you don't have cash in hand, ready to buy this thing, don't waste my time.

I envy you that you are still running with stock 10:1 compression. I was running 8.3:1 compression. I was also running more boost then you are so that's another problem in itself. VG internals are pretty well made hence they are forged pistons and all.

Someone answer me this--->

did Nissan do a manifold swap for the 85-89 Z's?? check out these two engines, first one has the "daul TB" style manifold(ala 3rd gen VG Max) and the other has the "single TB" style manifold(ala 2nd gen VG Max).....any real differences or Nissan just wanted to be creative and make different manifolds???

dual TB and post '89 VG "Maxima style" intake-->

Hmmm... I've never seen a Z31 with a dual chamber TB but that pic has one? Maybe it's a JDM manifold? All I know is if your boost happy then you would want the Single chamber TB.. hehe
