problems with my 91

my 91 automatic maxima is starting to have some problems, the acceleration is getting weaker and weaker. it wants to rpm more when accelerating also, so basically i am getting high rpms but not accelerating fast, i dont know if the timing is off or what. with this problem it also tends to not want to shift as fast, it seems to slip, all of these problems rpm, acceleration and shifting, are all happening at the same time, i think my car is dying, i need some help.

You know what it probably is... your tranny altogether... i had that same problem, and they said my first gear was gone and my 2nd gear was about to go.... Nissan makes AWESOME engine's, but their tranny's are a bit weak. What you might wanna test out is... in the morning.. don't let your car warm up.. just drive it.. and if it feels alot stronger in the morning than later in the day (after it warms up)... then it might be the same problem i have. I went to gibraltar transmission, and it cost me like 1200 dollars... they said it would've probably cost 1500 but my dad's friends with the guy. Aftre the guy had fixed it, it was good, but the problem was still there slightly.. and i just needed to add some fuel injector cleaning fluid, and now the car is running pretty sweet now...
But go and take it to a nissan mechanic.. and see what they say... but i'm sure that is the problem.. as you said the car feels weaker and weaker..which is what mine felt like, especially in first gear... after i got it into 3rd gear.. it flew nicely

Yeah prolly your tranny going bad....I took mine to A-1 Transmissions and paid $2200 for a rebuilt (that included a VB Kit, Tranny Cooler and Shift Kit).
If you're going to a Nissan Dealer expect to pay a lot more $$$.
