I have an 89SE, 268,000 miles and my 5spd is really noisy ... definitely bearing noise. I've called around to get prices on the bearing kits and the prices range from 75.00 to 275.00 !! Some guy said I had 28 bearings in my 5spd !! I've only ever rebuilt a Muncie from an old Corvette and from what I can remember it only had either 4 or 6 bearings. I haven't had a chance to look at my service manual so I really don't know how many bearings I'll be dealing with.

Anyway, has anyone had any experience rebuilding a 5spd for the Maxima ?? Any suggestions or comments are appreciated. Also, if anyone knows of a place that "reasonably" rebuilds these 5spds, let me know.

Oh yeah, the synchro kit is around $300+ !!! OUCH !!! I know I should replace those, but money is tight.
