My car is going crazy on me

Thank god some of you guys are browsing through this message.

I need all the help I can get. My cars became a wreck after I started to make all the modification for my car.

First I installed a Greddy Exhaust, Stillen intake then I lowered the car with Eiback springs(no special shocks, just generick ones). After a year or less the car started to make this voom voom noise like a boomerang everytime I get off the highway(This sound seems to come from the right front tire). My car makes a clunk noise (somewhere by the tire I think) after I make a sharp turn. Last but not least, my car shakes.. not trembles it goes into shock after I hit 65mph. I balanced the tires and got alignments done but nothing changed. Maybe this might of added to the problem. The front tires and the back are different in width. The front are 215 and the back is 205, can that be a problem.

I forgot to say but my car is a 1990 Maxima, and I am also a Maxi lover. I got a new engine about 5 month ago because the one before died. My car has about 120,000 miles on it. The engine runs great, it only has about 40,000 miles on it.

Please help. These problems are driving me up the walls. My girl won't even go into my car anymore. A definite problem.

Does it only make noise when you turn? I have a 93' SE and when I made right hand turns the car would make a repeated noise similar to what you said down by the wheel and I took it to the shop and they told me my drive axle was bad so I replaced it for about $150 and now I hear NO noises. I also had the left side replaced too! Dont know if that is whats wrong with yours but its worth a shot!

Your alignment might be off, or you could have a wheel that is off balance. Both are cheap to fix.

Your tierodend could be busted the rubber cracks on them sometimes and sand get's into the joint and wrecks the whole part. If that's loose than it would explain the ratteling at 65 mph and the turn knockning.

the knocking when turning is most likely an improperly seated spring- due to the install..
there's also a bearing in the top of the strut, sometimes that bearing goes bad and it will cause a popping sound when turning...

both require the same labor to fix.. pull the right front strut (you said it was on that side, right?), then check the alignment of the spring on the perches.. the ends of the spring should be resting just inside the "bump" on the perch.. you'll see what I mean when you get to that part.

If that's correct, check the bearing on the top of the strut, by turning the top section.. if it's not smooth, then it's likely there's a bad bearing there.. you can get them from any dealer.. don't know the price..

Now for the vibration problem.. I'm going to take a guess and say this vibration has been happening since you had the engine swapped, right? Either that or you've done some work on the tranny or CV joints since then, and it started after that.
If so, then it's the AXLES themselves that are out of balance.. sounds weird, but take my word for it. happened to me on both my maxes, on both sides of each..

the Fix: pull the axle out of one side of the car, give it a 1/2 turn, then put it all back together. (you'll have to drain and refill your tranny fluid to do this.).

but once it's back together, go for a drive and see if that fixes it. I'll bet this unopened can of Soda on my desk that those are your problems. good luck.

another thing I just thought of is to make sure the hub nut on the wheel is cranked down corretly.. if you've got loose wheel bearings, it can cause the same vibrations and noises...

the boomerang sound almost makes it sound like a bad bearing or possibly a ball joins at flyry110 said.
