power window problem

My passenger power window will not roll up somtimes
unles I pound on top of the switch on the passenger
side.Still does'nt work when I use master switch. I
wonder if it's a switch problem or something else?
Anyone ever have this happen,or know what it might be?

the regulator may be bad. It is a well known problem.

if you pound on the passenger side, and it works occasionally, and no response from your master switch, you may try checking the wiring at the regulator itself, as it's highly unlikely that both switches would go bad together.

Slickblack,a few weeks ago,all my windows just stopped working at the same time,so i took a ride up to my local j-yard,swapped out my master switch with one theirs, fixed. So it could be your master switch, and possibly just the passenger switch. So you might see if your local j-yard will let you swap out the switches for diagnoses.

I'm actually going to blame the motor.
but i'd confirm it with a meter to make sure that voltage is getting to the motor and in adequate amounts.

hi,
this is my first post to the forum and according to the rules, i can't start threads.
i got a 93 maxima for my sister and have a similar problem.
the power locks dont work but when pressed make this click sound beneath the dash.
i was able to use your search function and came up with the solution of the "door time locker".
itoday my search priveleges have been taken away (i have no idea why). but can anyone please find the link or thread which showed how to which pins are cracked and need soldering cos they all seem to look fine to me .
thanks

Did you find any help for your problem? I have a 1990 maxima that the driver side window button works occiasionally. I press it and it sometime roles down. Thne it rolls up automatically and the click beneath the dash begins. How did you solve this problem?

I did not find the problem.....I know its not the regulator. I've changed 5 now on 2 maximas and I know when its the problem.. It might be the motor is slowly dying. I'm starting with a different passenger switch because if I pound on it just right it works as it should. It always works going down, but going up is when the pounding is needed. Now I have to pound 10-15 times to get it to work.

Driver Side Window Problem

I have a 1990 maxima and today the driver side window went up automatically. Pressed the button to go down and all I heard was a low clicking noise every 5 seconds from inside the lower part of the driver side door. All the other windows work fine from the master switches on the driver side door. When I arrived home, turned off the car and let it sit. Turned it on later and the window works for about 1 minute then the problem repeat itself. Tobight, I took off the handle to the door and removed the master button panel to see where the noise is coming from. The wires go in the door and it seems to be coming from right behind the speaker area where I guess the connection to the window regulator is. Should I bother to remove the door panel or is it a bad switch at the master button panel? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help.
