Power steering tensioner pulley????

Power steering tensioner pulley????
I have this weird rattle coming from what looks like the tensioner pulley for the P.S pump. Has anyone had this problem before. I took off the A/C belt and the rattle is still there. I'm almost positive it's either the P.S pump(which I doubt) or the pulley right beside the P.S pump (not the crank) By the way, I have an 90 GXE. Any input have be nice... It that pulley a complete piece or can I buy the bearing for it??
Thanks

You should remove the belt and run it if you wanna be sure.
I have the ve and was experiencing a strange noise that I thought was a pulley, so I removed all (one at a time) and ran it. It wasnt a pulley and I still havent figured it out. So for now I'm dismissing it as a part of the VTC (potential) problem (b/c its not a ticking noise, its more of a warble sound). whatever..........

could very possibly be a bad bearing on the tensioner pulley... the ones on the A/C tensioner are common to go out.. (that was the very first thing I did on my old GXE was replace that bearing)..
but yes, you can pull the tensioner off pretty easily and the bearing can be pressed out with a vice and a few large sockets.
as for the bearing itself, Nissan may want you to buy the whole pulley for $100+, but you can find the bearing at most bearing supply houses (look in your local yellow pages for "bearing".)
Allied bearings are common company to see and they sell good quality stuff to the public. just takes a few days to get one. Mine cost me about $10.

You know I had the same problem and my damn mechanic replaced the power steering tensioner and it didn't fix the problem. There's this other bracket though that he removed and it did stop the rattling. I'm not sure what it was for.
