heh I've only done a 5-2 once on accident. Never on purpose. I was meaning to go into 4th to slow down a little while coasting at ~50mph but it was only my 2nd time ever driving a manual, and my first time ever driving that particular kind of car (manual or automatic) and I pulled the shifter over and back and wheAAAAAAA. Oops. No tach but I don't imagine it was higher than 4500-5000RPM to do 50mph in 2nd

not my car. it was a budget cheapo used car lot's car. I almost bouht the thing too. That was about a month before I joined the org. And the Org is why I still own a Maxima.
edit: and by a month, i mean 3 months

with load it's a lot closer to 7000 otherwise when i wouldn't be able to do 75mph in 2nd at 6500.
and no it wouldn't run out of gas or explode getting there my 87 took a half a inch past 125 covering the 2nd number on the right trip meter and averaged 120 for over 60 miles and didn't even get warm plus had enough gas to get back home, starting with around a half of a tank.
why you got to pick on the VG if they couldn't take a beating then i don't think nissan wouldn't have used them for like 20 some years and put them in so many differnt models now if it was a motor that was used just for a few years like the VE i would understand a bit more.

yea my 85 should have a A or B block in it, but my 87 should have had a W and so should my 89 and the 89 has seen cut out a few times and it was around 7000 i think (to busy watching the road most times). btw all are 5sp SE

yep i was wrong. i hardly ever take my car to cut off but i did last night just to see where it was, normaly i shift around 6000 (drive by sound and feel) but yea it shut down at 6500 (what my tach read) so the times that it hit close to 7000 could be needle bounce when i shift or somthing. sorry for being a noob.
