will they fit? I thought I saw them under the radio in place of the slide open cubby. I tried looking and couldnt find jack. I would rather it look stock as possible and not drill into the panel for some of the ones I have seen.

the stock cup holders just suck. The only thing theyve ever held decently was a frosty...i was thinking about the taurus cup holders but then i loose the storage drawer. Wats up with early 90's car and their crap cup holders. Ihad a mazda 626 with a cup hodler cover u lifted up which revealed two half inch deep tiny holes for the cups. Seems to be a trend on early 90s imports, crap cup holders.

I just use my legs as a cupholder. Cheap and simple. No assembly required.

yeah i use the cram beside the ebarke too just to get my wallet out or something. Other than that, if traveling, always get something with a twist off lid that can be closed again. Wish I had a place for cupholders. The owner before me put the CD changer controls there.

if I still had a 3rd gen, I'd be playing with installing the cupholders from a b13 (since the b13 is sitting around with the console taken apart )

the stock ones? pull out tray like lots of cars but the left holder is tiny and the one on the right is bigger. the bottom of the does not extend downward from the tray like they do on some cars.

dunno about internetautomar's holders.

I think I'm going to cut the holes bigger on the stock 3rd gen cup holders, cut holes in the bottom, then attatch a slanted metal bar to hold them. Shouldn't be too hard and it should hold two cans pretty well with plenty of depth so they don't tip.

b13 = 91-94 nissan Sentra in the US
I'm not sure how to mount it as I no longer have the Max anymore to look and see.
I do still have the drawer/cupholder thingie still though.
maybe I'll put in the sentra instead

I'm gonna have to disagree with ya. I've got taurus cup holders and I can fit taco bell cups which are HUGE compared to a can of pop. You probbably installed the taurus cupholder too deep in. Mine is flush and does wonders.

For the orinal poster and Alex V. The 92-94 cup "holder" can be installled on the 89-91 but wont be perfect as it would on the 92-94 in my opinion. I know have it Alex but meh.

I'd suggest using the Ford Taurus cup holder on the third gen. If anyone needs any, let me know.

, I don't think I ever had a cup that fit in the original cup holders properly. And the way they were designed, once you put a cup in it, it blocks all the buttons on your radio.

i got a different one from you guys. still a taurus but I think the holder itself is not the same as the one most maxima guys get. It took a day to install it, because of all the grinding and grinding and modifications required to get it to fit. So i know for a fact it's the wrong one.

your taurus holder probably is as good as you say. Mine isn't.

what exactly did you do to install yours? I drilled holes to fit the stock radio bracket..

I have a 4runner that dangles your drinks way up in the air by the a/c vents. But I do have to admit, (knock on wood) I have never had a Sonic Route44 drink fall out yet. It always looks like it is going to take a chunk of dash with it one day. I like my roommates F-150 seating for 5 and it has 8 cupholders!

I just got a hack saw and cut the bottom bracket thats on the center. other than that I think I just crammed it in there and voila! I also got some "Foam Core" the stuff used for school projects, I cut it to the shape of the H/U and cupholder and used two layers under cup holder so it wouldn't rub against that lil thing and one between HU and cupholder. You cant see them in there and it gives it nice and even spacing along with extra strength for those oh so heavy drinks

What year Taurus? I've got a 93 Mercury Sable, and I don't think there's that big of a difference in them? I've always just done the old cram it next to the ebrake trick, but we've been looking for cupholders for my maxima. I'll happily pull the cup holders from my sable if it will work!

i got mine out of like a 94 or 95 taurus.... i installed them too deep in and the only thing i can fit is 20z or smaller or else it teeters over the edge due to the radio faceplate being in its way... one of these days i'll fix it.

Thanks for the pics. Do you know if those are the cup holders out of a Taurus? I had much rather do this opposed to the other option I mentioned.

I think the Taurus ones could hold a medium coffee cup, like those new $1 ones from Starbucks.

I don't put anything in my stock one. My brother did (previous owner) and a few things spilled in there.

Totally lame, but I am the same as some really old posters said -- when I drive the Maxima long distance, I just buy something with a screw on lid, like Gatorade or whatever. There is no eating the Maxima, either.

My Silverado and the new van have decent cupholders. I let my wife spill all the coffee she wants in those, I don't care. She cleans the van, anyway.

Also just noticed this weekend that I have 2 sets of the Taurus cupolders in a box. I'd be willing to sell one of them... gonna install the other on my car.
