it actually shows the colors as being the same for both airbag and non airbag setups.

Yea, thats a problem. On my car, I have way different colors than the airbag connector. So this is a bit of a problem. I'm going to have to take pictures so you guys can see what I mean.

sounds like what I ran into on my first VE when I went to install the remote start. the wiring colors at the harness were different than all the diagrams were.
I had to test all the wires with a test light to get it all connected right
