Yes! The VG Auto to VE5 swap is DONE.
So far, so good.... I am only able to work about 4-5 hours a day due to it being rather cool in the mornings and I have to work outside on my project. But I have got the VE into my 90SE.
All I have to do at this point is to connect everything and crank her up. In all honesty, the most difficult thing so far has been to replace the PS pump as mine was leaking and the donor car was not.
The wiring harness was actually A LOT easier than I was anticipating. probably didn't take a hour to pull both harnesses and then install the needed harness into the '90.
I am going to have a lot of VG parts and also I am parting out a '92SE if anyone is interested.

How about I post that?
I had prettier 'money shots' somewhere, but I can't seem to locate them. Anyway, here's an old shot of the VG engine bay when I was routing some wires.

As for the speed mods, nothing planned right now. I don't see me going turbo route. Mostly because it's too expensive. I do have some small gain items I want to work with though, such as spacers, ECU tweaks, etc...

Well that's a dirty shot of it, but it looked fairly nice when it was 'dressed'. Nowhere in the league of what 'Bitter Mod' Danny and Michael H, and others have done with their engine bays.
As for you car, I tell you Gooner, seeing your car done will be one of the most anticipated 3rd gen events ever. I'm not joking. It's kind of served like the ultimate canvas. Dangling in front of our eyes all this time. How long has it been in primer now?
There must almost be a sense of no color being good enough for it.

3 years in primer????.... It's comming around, going through one more major mechanical repair (fresher motor) then back to getting it closer to paint.

for clarification, Mack531 is swapping a VE engine+tranny into his '89 car, right? Which would then require the VE ECU to follow.
However, isn't it true that if we swap a VG-tranny (AT ECU only, I belive there's some exception for VG-MT ECU or something) out for a VE-5, the ECU does NOT have to be swapped out right?

If your ending up with a MT, you don't need to worry about a TCU (transmission control unit) at all.
I left my auto wiring in place as well, but I do want to remove it to reduce clutter and simplify things. No effect on the ecu at all. Its the same for VE and VG.
