Trunk leaking

I have a 92 se that has a leaking trunk when it rains. I thought it was the lid (because the old owner drilled some screws through it to tack down the rotting trunk spoiler) so I repleced it with a smoothie. I checked it the other day and it's still leaking. I do like the way the trunk pops up when I hit the botton I think I'm gonna put some weights in it so it'll pop a little slower.

mmm...
mine leaks, you may wanna check the channel outside the seal for rust or cracks. that is how mine leaks
you may also see if the lid is making good contact with that seal. i do not know of a better or safer way, but the best i can think of is to buy one of those fluorescent leak kits with spray and a black light. get all the stuff out of your trunk, climb in, while a buddy sprays the stuff around the lid. if/when you find the leak, you can have the buddy to open the lid (or you can use the emergency release:/...)
idk where to get this stuff, though. just know it exists as a spray to detect leaks in windows and doors on cars. make sure to test the spray on the paint in an inconspicuous spot first...

The trunk is huge - grab a flashlight, get your butt in there, have somebody close the lid and spray, with the garden hose, all the joints/seals

Go to Theatrical Supply or a Bar Supply. You are looking for a BLACKLIGHT stamp ink. You can normally dilute to about 1oz per 1gal of water, spray over area, let dry then go look. Nice is when dry it remains behind for awhile.

Also good in finding leaks in roofs. Or helping in finding cracks in metal, the area with the crack is "dark" or more intense under blacklight since more is piled up in the crack.

your taillights aren't sealed to the body is my guess.

My trunk was leaking so i climbed in the trunk with a flashlight and a friend with a garden hose. I found the leak with 2 min and just threw some silicone in the hole it was leaking through. It was actually leaking through the top of the taillight and found its way into a factory drilled hole. I also soliconed the top of the taillight with black silicone and havent looked back since. I needed to get that fixed asap because i had a system in the trunk and I dont think water and live wires or a wood speaker box dont really work very well together.
