It's quite rigid and has been reinforced plenty. I still need to make a lower tie bar to feel satisfied. if you ever really looked the the radiator support, there isn't my strength at all. My biggest concern was getting the towers supported. Also I welded All the seems.

Here's a pic of my strut bar.

well yeah, i was always kindof wondering just how sturdy those gutted towers really were.... but i was also talking about the front parts like where the radiator and crap are. also what about the old mount points for ALOT of the relay/fuse boxes, hose guides, PS resevoir, charcoal canister, brake lines, ABS controller, etc. how are you mounting all that stuff in your new engine bay area with all the old sheet metal (and associated pre-positioned welded-on nuts) gone?

Fusible link box and relays are mounted behind the drivers headlight and ont he side of the main support. I'll get a pic later today. The ps reservoir will be mounted on the firewall, I need to reroute the linkes of course. Charcoal cansister will be on the firewall, brakes lines are not effected, battery is going to the trunk, ac is gutted (it's never worked anyway) and I don't have abs. The wire harness isn't getting tucked this time but maybe later. Right now I'm working on shortening it and making it neater.

What about racing stripes?

NISMOman69-- All you need now are a pair of bright green racing stripes.
Thirty yeas ago (in high school) I actually thought this color with pea-green racing stripes would be the ULTIMATE paint job! Needless to say my tastes have changed since then, but I give a nod to you for having the cajones to go with it, man! Next mod: Scoop on d'roof!

Here's how they look in the compressed form.

And a pic how the 'main beam' looks. I thought it was interesting...

Big_E-Dog: Holy Smoke! That's amazing! AiResearch Turbos? What? T-304's or similar? Is this setup a simple twin-boost or sequential?
How on earth are you keeping track of the wires and everything? You must have schematics for brains, or a lot of brainy friends! What is the history of this project?
I'm thinking this may not be streetable... Definitely not street legal. Impressive.
Got any plans to organize the spaghetti patch after it's done? What about shielding the turbos? This setup will cook your hood. What are you using for an ECU? Maybe some aftermarket programming? Details Please...

well as for the hood still thining about that dunno what ima do right now. gonna wrap the piping, and maybee cut more holes in the hood, but not too many because i wanna drive it in the rain.

wires and vaccum hoses, ive stripped down the motor so many times i know where everything goes and if i get lost my fsm will help out.

as for being street legal it depends on who to ask.

tunning im using a 300zx motor so the ecu as well (turbo version) gonna run this and low boost until i get nistune in.

turbos they are 2 garrett t3's and simple twin setup sequential is tooo complicated, but i wish i could find 2 t25 from a 300zx that would be sweet, and 2 hks gt2X35 would be sweet as helll.

Big-E i say you go for the turbo bump in the hood like a talon, just square it up to match the shape of the car and leave the back open to vent or just a few more washers.

Just got my FSTB today, pics tomorrow after the install!

You guys got me thinking about turbo again >_<

This thread plus the Y pipe thread = me wanting to go to the junkyard and loot a 300ZX, Supra, Eclipse, 3000GT, RX-7, etc. for turbos. Even if I couldn't really use all that power thanks to FWD.

i was thinking a early 200sx hoodscoop left justified right over them and cut the scoop out.

like the 80-83 style that would be cool or I think the Z31 turbo had one too (thought about that after I posted talon)

I don't think so but I may not be understanding what you mean correctly.
Either way, I can tell it's probably saving me a bit of money - it has improved cornering so I don't have to waste gas braking.

oops that question was directed at big_E-dog

the tb i meant was throttle body, not tower bar. heh.

also vg30guy does that breather filter get in the way of your throttle cable hookups? from this angle it looks like it's hitting the cruise control one.

the shaft that your tb butterfly pivots on... is it asymmetrical (geometry: a chord rather than a diameter) or is the angle just deceiving?

I've been trying to get some info on the breather for my own modification purposes, however I can't seem to find anything about it in my service manual and internetautomar got off aim before I got all the info out of him. So could anyone tell me what it is because my best guess is a second PCV valve, which is kinda confusing to me because one hooks up before the throttle body and one hooks up at the rear of the intake manifold. Any help?

the breather is the 'other end' of the PCV system. vapor-filled air goes from the PCV to the intake runners post-TB (ie, in the vacuum area). that air is replaced by clean fresh air via the breathers. but it's all a closed system.. when air is moving through the PCV it enters the cylinders and is part of the combustion process... meaning that the air which replaces it (via the breathers) is metered by the MAF. when you filter the breathers directly, it's like a semi-controlled vacuum leak, because the air is coming in from non-MAF-read sources, working its way through the crankcase, the pcv valve, and into the cylinders. but the quantity of air may be so small that it doesn't matter, plus the PCV is only working during part-throttle, so the 02 sensor would probably pick up any discrepancies and the ECU would get used to it. it may be bad, by having a kinda-sorta vacuum leak. it probably won't help lean out the mix and make more power because the PCV system doesn't really do anything at WOT anyways, which is when our cars tend to run rich.

Sorry, I had to go move around a couple of cars.
There is only 1 PCV valve.

Leave the system alone. it is designed to do its function and has been doing so for 40 years. do you seriously think you or any other "performance guru" can make in better?
A race car uses an oil catch can because of the amount of oil that gets past the piston rings. if a stock car is getting so much oil past the rings that it needs a catch can, then you NEED a new motor.

I don't plan on bypassing the PCV system, I believe it works great the way it is however I did find a little bit of oil in the PCV hose and if its getting into my engine I don't really like it when I have the option of storing it and pouring it out if it ever gets significantly high in the catch can. I know stock it's not supposed to do much but somedays I do consider trying to scavenge a junkyard or two for an DSM's turbo (after all, if a 4 banger can run them well enough to have it put on from the factory there should be zero turbo lag on a maxima).

what you did wasn't to bypass the PCV... you partially bypassed the MAF though.
