Rear window defroster

Does anyone know how to repair a break in defrost filament without having to change out the whole window? Afterall, nothing is more aggravating than trying to melt the ice/snow/frost off the back and have a strip that is not working.

I tried a repair kit once. My problem is that all but one or two lines are broken (in several spots). I guess that's what happens when you sit in the Miami sun for 10 years.

I don't really ever need it, but if I were to fix it I think the whole piece of glass needs to be replaced.

Then why not just tape out the complete lines and repaint them all? It wouldn't take that much time and would save you from having to fix one part of the line, test, repair another, test, etc. You can replace the glass w/defroster lines for a few hundred dollars OR use a roll of masking tape, some foil paint and a saturday afternoon and spend less then $20.
