just pop the 4 tabs. I couldnt get those damn screws out either, and when I pulled the metal bracket off the box, i broke the box. fortunately, this was at the junk yard, and I just needed the box to take it home safely. its easier to pull the bottom out, and slide the board out the bottom (and its connected to the bottom cover anyway)(use a small flat blade screwdriver)

I thought about this on mine, however, it looks like some of the resistors and diodes (maybe even the IC...) were a little toasted on the path to the connector.

- Whattodo: the wiring goes through it, meaning all electrons to be modified as photons run via the box...

- Confuzean for me: my year code is none of those - but zero = 0

- Btw. check my cardomain last page 26 for links...

ok bad news....just got back from the junkyard.got myself not 1 but 2 of those boards that i needed and sad to say it didnt solve the problem that i was having.

i got them from 2 89 maxim's and im pretty sure the units are in working order (looked clean and no burnt marks or anything). so right now im out of ideas on how to get this thing fixed..

i mean i checked all the harnesses and they all looked clean and taped. checked the bulbs and theyre not burnt. i even tried unplugging the stereo to see if thats the thing thats causing this issues.

my only options right now is to install a aftermarket custom gauges like this:
http://www.andysautosport.com/nissan...ces/alfa_otto/

those are only the covers for the gauges, not actually gauges.
sounds like you have a problem worse than mine...
(did you check the fuses again? maybe it blew out...)

i did check them before and after i install both for each board.

they are covers that illuminates and which is what i need.cause the gauges themselves (pins/needles) work.its just that they dont illuminate when i need them to at night. but its a lot to pay for something simple.

yeap, change the bulb colors and you changed the gauge color. LEDs may have cold spots, incandescent bulbs are more uniformed.

Some good colors:

Red
Amber (as in turn signals amber, warm look to the gauges)
Green

Some might argue with me, but blue = bad if you live an area where you are constantly exposed to light then dark area, your eyes won't adjust fast enough and your gauges will seem to disappear.

another option is if you can find the colored "condoms" for the bulbs, however, I do not recommed them as they just arent as effective...(think about the blue cover on the oem bulbs)
note: if you buy bulbs they usually wont have the plastic socket(thing?), so don't be confused if you go and find them, but they don't look right. they are just standard wedge based bulbs(as mike said, 194A's).

anybody know what size the warning lights' bulbs are?

Hmmm, not really sure....have you tried idiotzone? Back in the day, you could get just about any bulb you needed from the part stores. But, that was then, not sure about now. Just carry one in with you and see if they can help match them.

the timer control unit(located under the dash) was fried (at least on mokylim and mine). replace that, and you should be good(asuming you have checked the fuses).
