what size are the tires themselves?
I've seen several occasions where the tire size is to small so it looks lousy.

I have a 93 SE too and have 16x7" BBS RX's with 225/50/16's on them with stock suspension.

But I am soon to be Eibach dropped within the next few days or so; I'll post pictures to let you know how it looks dropped. How can dropping a car create so many problems?

easy, by putting sh!tty suspension and not installing them correctly.

Alright, well do any of you know what tripleGmax used as far as lowering, that car just looks awesome.... I just don't want to decide to go with the 18's and get into a money pit you know. Currently my car sits lower in the rear than in the front, think my springs and or struts are shot anyway?

intrax and tokicos.

before you start dropping, check your bushings, and make sure the car runs properly before putting money where it doesn't need to be. (no offense, but a lot of people come on here, want to drop a crap-load of money into their car, and ignore basic maintenance)

I'm lookin at the Eibach Prokit lowering springs and the Tokico Hp shocks... Total is about $425. Does that seam pretty decent and the way to go for that look?

like Brian said, that is the best setup. not too high and not too low. so it will ride and look nice at the same time. pricing is good.

for bling i like my 17s. For carving corners and "spirited" driving, my 16`s were the way to go. I ran 225/50/16s and the car felt sooo balanced. I use eibach prokit w/Tokico HP struts. I Got 17`s now w/225/45/17`s now. MORE WEIGHT. I miss the 16`s..=/ All u need are the springs and struts Pearl93VE.

However...16`s wont clear my Cobra/J30 brake setup

+1 on the 16s for canyon carving.

For bling anything big and flashy will do. Do they make 30s for the Max yet?

hmm. i always thought lower profile meant better responsiveness. such that 17s would be better than 16s... tho I like the look of both 16s and 17s

Depends on the profile. I bet some 16s have less of a profile then some 17s.

As Colin Chapman said "If you want to go faster, just add lightness". This is ESPECIALLY true of unsprung weight. An extra pound or two on the wheels can have HUGE undesirable effects on handling. A 17" rim is usually 2-3 pounds heavier then a 16". The extra unsprung weight gives the suspension huge amounts of extra work to do. For instance, take a baseball and throw it as hard as you can at a friend (make sure you tell him in advance though!). You can probably throw it pretty far. If your buddy is watching, he can probably catch it pretty easy. Now do the same with a bowling ball. You won't be able to throw it as far and he'll have WAY more trouble catching it. This is similar to what your shock and springs go through with the heavier wheels.

The next problem is that the extra wheel weight is further away from the center of the wheel. So now it takes more energy to get that wheel spinning. Think of an ice skater spinning. When they have their arms out they have a nice slow spin, but when they draw there arms and legs in tight they spin MUCH faster without adding any other energy.

Your tire/wheel package makes a bigger difference in cornering then any other mod you can make EXCEPT adjusting the nut behind the wheel.

If you can AFFORD to get 17" wheels that are as light as 16" then the performance will not suffer, only your wallet will.

SHOULT...what u said...very logical and so very true. I lost almost a full second in 1/8th mile when i switched wheels. Other then that, my top end on freeway from 3k-6k rpm was a big change too. Bottom line .. going to larger wheels changed the characteristics of the car in accel, braking and cornering. Ever notice a time attack civic only runs 15s ???...lol

Yeah... sometimes I have to remind myself of that. The red mist decends and I have to remember to go slower to go faster.
