Cruise Control Quit, any ideas?

Hey. My cruise control quit working today. I read up on some old posts and I didn't see any that really figured out what the problem was.

Has anyone figured this out...I mean...is there a common cause?

4 weeks ago, I put on a K&N, but other than that, have made no mods in a month.

ANY ideas would be helpful...I'm a HUGE fan of CC.

Matt

I've been trying to get an answer to THAT problem for months, bro! I'm almost ready to spend the $65+/hour that the mechanic is gonna charge me to troubleshoot it.

cruise control actuator (the thing that actually pulls the throttle plate open)

it could also be relay, switch, or the main control unit

I talked to Kaleb at courtesy nissan before and he said he's never sold anyone the main control unit but they do sell many actuators so that could be your problem. I'm 99% sure that's what wrong with mine.

The nissan factory service manual (FSM) has procedures to test all the ASCD (automatic speed control device = cruise) components. Get one from ebay or nissan dealer and it'll help you out with this and lots of other things. It wouldn't cost much more for the manual than for someone else to diagnose it and then you'll have it for other jobs (it tells how to do just about EVERYTHING you could ever need to do to your car).

Hmmm...so, anyone think it's having to do with the K&N?

I'll look for a service manual.

Same thing happened to me.... twice

My cruise never worked for about 2 months after I bought my car, and then once I brought it in to have some clutch work done, it began to work. Then, after I ran my power wire through the grommet beneath the wheel well, it stopped working again. This time it and the horn stopped working, which makes me think that something got cut or disconnected coming from the steering column.
