My Max Is Temp. OOS

My Maxima after having it for 2 years disappointed me greatly. It died on me in the middle of one of the busiest streets near my college's campus, while making a left turn in the middle of oncoming traffic. The brakes locked-up, the RPMs were flying when I touched the gas, but the car wasn't moving at all, it was just reving and reving. I didn't know what to do. Finally some man came and helped me out and we pushed it to the side of the road. I got the car towed back to my area and brought it over to my uncle's body shop where he came to conclusion immediately that the car's transmission died and that the front differential was cracked. That was why the car's wheels weren't moving at all and the RPMs were so jumpy.

To make a long story short I need to get all those replaced or get a new car. I got my car with 40K miles on it, and over two years had put 30K miles ontop of that. I found it very hard to believe that a car, that is cared for and taken care of, tranmission would just die out of nowhere.

Yeah... that does suck. Maybe it's time for a 5spd conversion?

Jeez, sorry to hear about that - it's a 94 too! I'm sure you thought about this already, but you just gotta weigh the cost of replacing the tranny (and diff.) with a rebuilt one (or get yours rebuilt) against the cost of getting a new car. You have to ask yourself, how much do you want to keep your Max?

btw, are you in telecom, or does everyone use "OOS" and just not tell me?
