Maxima GXE vs SE fuel pump? Walbro 255lh pump?

What is the difference between the GXE fuel pump and the SE for the 3rd generation? Aside from the price? Just curious......

My fuel pump is finally dead after 16 years and +150K miles. Not bad. So I purchased a walbro 255lh fuel pump. I had a good experience with them in my Corvette plus its alot less than the OEM.

Anyone have any experience with the pump in a 3rd gen maxima?

never pulled a pump out of a GXE, but I've had a Walbro in my VE for about 8 years now. hasn't missed a lick.
install is pretty easy too- I hope you bought the install kit with the filter sock and all that jazz too.

i know there's a slight difference in the wiring structure of the fuel pump circuit between GXEs and SEs (whether early VG or later VE). It's got to do with reverse-polarity protection for someone accidentally mixing up the battery poles. Did the site list years too (too many parts vendors are retards when it comes to knowing about the VE)? Or just the trims? This is something I'd want to know if i ever need a fuel pump. I suppose in the end all VG pumps should be interchangeable even if they are slightly different between GXE and the VG'd SEs.

well those are even the same part #.... so then maybe whoever else was trying to sell it to you was trying to make a difference where there was none? unless the aftermarket pump was just consolidated into one item number.

whether the wiring upstream is different or not doesn't really matter once you get to the pump. the pump itself only has two wires. +12V and ground.
the filter sock and all that are identical between the two as far as I can remember.... I've pulled the pump on a GXE to clean the tank (customer filled it w/ diesel), but by all recollection it looked same as my VE pump once you get inside the tank.

I got the walbro 255lh fuel pump in last night.Works perfect and is very quiet. Well worth it versus the $380 factory unit.

I am looking into turboing my 93 Maxima, and most of the research I have lead to suggests to upgrade the fuel pump, my question is will a 90 z32 N/A fuel pump work in the maxima, and would it provide enough flow for a turbo'd max?

I happen to own a N/A z32 that is basically a parts car (Engine going, tranny gone), I plan to restore it one day, but when I do gonna do a TT swap anyways, so most of the stuff I plan to pull off will have to be replaced/upgraded to TT parts anyways.

Thanks,
Chalzor

something you may consider is what the tt project will need. if you want to restore it, put more money into that. what I am trying to say, research the pump necessary to tt that car, and if that will fit the max as well. that way, you have the pump, even if it is already in use. you may want to find out some more info on the z forums, since they would know more about the z pumps than most of us here.
and I don't think the z pump would be a direct fit, anyway. could be wrong, haven't pulled both apart, and compared.

eh...iirc it should be fine as long as you dont abuse it by driving on E all the time. Make sure you keep your level at least higher than 1/4 and it should last a long time..unless you have a blazer, astro, c/k1500+, or some big GM
