Strange A/T issues

Last night my transmission acted strangely and wouldn’t shift down. I was stuck in either 3rd or 4th if O/D was on, which made for real lazy starts from the stop light. Once I got home, I put the car in Park, turned it off, and then back on. Everything seemed to work fine and I had the lower gears back.

Today I ran the diagnostics and did a test drive, no issues whatsoever!
I drove it hard yesterday, but probably no more than usual. The initial symptoms showed up just as I exited the highway, so it was down from 85 to 0, and then as I got going from that stop I noticed problems with acceleration.

Has anyone encountered this before? I’d like to know if there is an outright failure looming in the near future.

whatever it is, your car randomly decided to drive in 'safe mode'. turning off and on clears safe mode until it is necessary to return to safe mode. i've triggered safe mode but only by having some electrical switches to mess w/ the functionality of the tranny... so, no i've never had it just happen in normal driving. if it drives fine and doesn't do it again i wouldn't worry toooo much about it unless the tranny starts to act up.

Interesting, I'll have to read more on this safe mode. When checking it over tonight, I noticed it is a bit overfilled, so perhaps I'll drain some fluid.
