Trunk remote open keeps firing

I'm not sure what the deal is here, the trunk keeps opening for no reason. I don't think it is the switch [up by the driver] because I disconnected it and the trunk continues to open. For now I just flipped the valet switch, but that's a pain in the **** for me because the key lock is broken [and has been for 3+ years]. Any ideas where this is going wrong?

Go to the jy and get a key and lock for the trunk. Leave this remote pop disabled this will add some security to the high end audio equiptment in your trunk.

It's just that the relay[?] keeps firing, I can't just ignore it because its drawing power, I don't need that strain on the battery all the time.

unfortunately, the solenoid just sits there until it gets juice from the relay.the problem seems to be something is triggering the relay. have you made any electrical mods at all in the past month or so? or done anything near wires in the cab?

only after you have checked for shorts and a stuck relay.
my suggestion was only yo stop the trunk from popping randomly.

Stupid Question:

The trunk is electronically controlled?
I know of the switch but I thought it was all mechanical.

Gotcha. I have a 91 SE, and never explored the GXE. Thanks for the info.

I think it might have been a universal switch in 92 because I have a 92 SE and have the electronic switch to open it from in the cab. [which is a major problem when your battery is dead and you can't get into the trunk to get at your jumper cables]

It seems to have started pretty randomly - the relay is under the dash I'm assuming? Wire runs down the drivers side to the trunk?
