Exhaust Manifold (Rear)

How much harder could it be to get off??? i got the 3 top bolts off, and the bottom 3 are nearly impossible.

Yes, this is off the parts car. and yes, i ripped all the hoses that were in my way outta my way.

you should just be able to snap the bolts off, if not, try spraying it with liquid wrench or pblaster, then heat the nuts cherry red with a propane torch and have it. If the nuts had stripped, then perhaps one of those sockets that grabs on to stripped nuts can be used as well. If you really don't care, air hammer and chisel point will get the job done, or just hammer and a chisel.

i recommend, if using the pb blaster, etc. method, give it time to soak in, then wipe away any excess before using the torch.dont need a fireball under the hood(even if its a parts car.)

^^^^^^ the idea of a fireball under the hood is quite amusing. I was assuming that he knows how to use the methods described, but eh, *** out of me.

I also remember something about dropping the engine support to get to the bolts easier

i think you should be able to drop the cross member down a bit to give yourself a bit more room.

I'm confused. I believe myself to be a large man, being of 330 pounds (Yeah, I know it hurts my 1/4 mile time). But even I can get to all 6 bolts from the top, especially if all the vacuum lines and stuff are pretty much out of the way. So, I second the comment of either get better tools or pull the engine. The only other option I can offer, is to pull the right side valve cover. If you can't get to the bolts at that point, then you're doing something really wrong. That cover comes off with a big head phillips screwdriver in about 3 minutes if indeed your lines are out of the way.

Remove the Xmember and you'll have plenty of room from the bottom, or a small stubby rhachet with a deep 6 point socket should work from the top. Relax you don't need to see it to remove it, use a mirror and flashlight! May the force be with you! Close your eyes and feel the force!!!
