Help me Front Grille removal
Help me Front Grille removal
Man this grille is hard to remove. Im putting new headlights in my 3rd gen, but I do not want to break anything as I pull on the grile where it is attached to the hood latch soo to say. How do I get this thing out?? Thanks guys
Reverse:
Take the plastic clips away from the car and place them on the back of the grille. (I just hold it by the V part of the clip and stick the head of it in one of the holes and twist until it pops through- you'll know what I'm talking about when you go to do it) then just pop the grille in the holes on the car and insure each clip popped in.
Hope that helped.
edit:
Also, if you still have your grille badge on; you will need to pop the hood (support it, because your hoot struts are blown) and there's four tabs that you'll need to press inward on the backside of the badge, push inward on the tabs, and push out at the same time (through the front of the grill) and gently pull the badge off from the front with your other hand.

It has 5 plastic clips, one in the middle center of the grille, and four around the corners. You need a long flathead screwdriver that you stick in between the grooves of the grille and into the clip, twist the clip until it is square (they sit diagonal) and push the clips through the backside of the grille. Once you do all five... pull the grille away from the car.

twisting them never worked for me. they stripped out on me. I just use pliers from behind. works fine for me. you may have to remove the headlights tho to get to the lower clips w/ the pliers... i forget if you do or don't. but that's only if the lower 2 strip out on you. otherwise twist them.
u will need a needle nose plier to take those clips easily...hold the clip from the bottom and from the top with needle nose plier and squeeze it gently and push it out slowly u should be able to take it out....and ya most of time there r 4 clips and thats fine.....
There isnt much room btwn that grill and your radiator i had a tough time removing mine and replacing it a couple times while i was working on my new grill. i think i used some channel locks cause the have a long handle and curve twards the grill. ya know what i mean? i never used the center clip, the 4 corners hold well enough i think. i wouldnt pay 30 fn cents for another plastic clip! thats such a rip. i saved my money in gas and hassle and i would get some tie wire and cinch it up real good for FREE. its a lot easier that messing with those mickey mouse clips. Well i hope i helped some, good luck.
