e36 Hi and Low beam on at the same time

Hello i have installed my e36 headlights one at a time. The driver side went good and all works fine there. But the passenger side is wired the harnesses and plugged them in and both the Hi and low beam lights turn on. While the other side (The driver side ) is working correctly. I have tried rewiring, i checked to make sure the connections on the back of the headlight are in the correct position and still can not figure out what is causing this. One other thing i noticed is that when i do turn the lights on and have them both connected the hi beam light on the dash lights up but if i disconnected the passenger side light the hi beam light shuts off. This is bizarre. And just as an FYI the Hi beams are not clicked on. Can someone please help.

Just a thought, you wired what you mistook for the ground to both lights. The result is that the high beam is gounding throught he circuit when you turn on the low beams? Clearly if it is not working properly, DO NOT run this set up. You may short/burn up your light system. Get this figured out before you put the car back on the road!

I have checked the wireing and is all setup the right way. So what I did was buy new haresses and rewired again. This time the low beams are only on. But when I turn on the high beams they don't work, it blows the fuse next to the battery. When I take the light out and hook it up to the other side and try the high beams it works ok. Now I am confused. I checked and re-checked the wireing and can't figure this out.

trace the wiring on the side that works, and doublecheck that it's identical to the side that doesn't work. or also, check the voltages coming from different wires w/ a multimeter and gnd the black tip of the multimeter to the body so you see the voltage off each wire individually.
