OBD1 is not something that exists. there is no standard to it.
anyhow, get a consult emulator and you will be able to get information from the Consult port on your VE.

that thing hasnt been tested on the j30 maxima(3rd gen) with either engine. I wouldnt touch it, unless it was free, and had a spare maxima, in case it fubars the car.

if it works on a Z32 n/a it will work on a VE.
I have used a snap-on scanner on the VE and it reads info just fine. never tried it on a VG though.

will it work well......

there are alot of things on ebay that are rip-offs a scams, what you buy is up to you, personally i havn't used it. But like BenStoked said i wouldn't touch it unless you knew it wouldn't mess your car up.

But sure if there is software provided and you have a compatable laptop it will connect. But if it works

The first link you posted has an adapter that looks like it would work, but for the money, your better of buying one from:
http://www.blazt.biz or http://www.plmsdevelopments.com
They both have proven units that are USB compatible and can offer the software "Nissan Datascan" for an additional price.

You can also download "Calumsult" from here for free: Calumsult link

It is the same software as shown in the first link, It works pretty well.

I have used that Nissan Datascan seen in that link before on my 3rd gen. His screen name is Kenji and he is from Seattle. I haven't seen him post on the .org lately, but I don't check the 4th gen forums.

I was at a local meet and a 4th gen guy hooked it up to my car. It worked perfectly. IIRC, you can't actually change functions with it unless you keep the laptop plugged into it. It is for scanning/testing. He showed me that it controlled my computer by disabling my fuel pump relay.

USB interface cable + Datascan software + Datalog viewer USB Interfacekabel + Datascan software + Datalog viewer for $169.50

The best of everything. Diagnose your engine faults, monitor vital statistics, change base settings, and view it all in a graphical format, even when your car is 'offline'

is that software included in that which they r selling sepratley for $46
Nissan Datascan

Monitor your car in many different helpful ways.
