TPS replacement didn't help!!!

TPS replacement didn't help!!!

Problem (hesitation on acceleration) has gotten worse, now sounds like I'm down a cylinder, used to do this every once and a while, then it would be ok after sitting for a night. Has anyone here had any trouble with their injectors? Help!!! Also I'm having trouble finding a repair manual for a '92, is it the same as the '93? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

92... I have been having these problems since last month. After 3 injectors, a fuel rail, fuel regulator, etc. now they tell me that its still sluggish and that I need a TPS. The mech said it is slow from a dead start. Once it gets to speed, it is fine. Pulled cat down and it was clear. How much was TPS?

Your problem sounds similar to how mine was... I lost 3 injectors at once. If the car is hesitating and not accelerating evenly, and you have checked the gas intake, cat and plug wires, it very well could be the injectors. Have someone check the current (volt meter) on the injectors if you can not yourself. It should give you a live reading if working correctly (don't remember exact voltage...)

Don't know too much about the repair manuals, but there should be relatively little difference between 92 and 93 model years.

---TPS was like $50, got it from the mechanic I go to on occasion, so I have no idea what actual dealer price should be.

---When you test the injectors, are you looking for amps, or what? (Do you plug the tester in line, or just check to see if there's voltage at the injector?) Were you able to see via the plugs, which injector was bad?

---I was taking Pep Boy's work for it, but it appears from the Haynes and Chiltons site, that the '92 is in eth '85-'92 book, and there is a '93-up book.. If the '93 SE drivetrain is the same as teh '93, I'd rather get the '93 book as it would likely focus more on on my car.

change the fuel filter. my hesitation problem was a combination of fuel filter and TPS. it would be VERY slow from a stop if i didnt rev it up real high (2500RPM+), sometimes it would strain to go higher than 4000RPM. well all that is fixed now, just wont start..randomly but its going to the mechanic tomorrow so we'll see whats up.

You can get a Chilton manual for any Maxima year @ www.automanualtrader.com. The price is $8.98 plus shipping..Should come to about $12 dollars. I recently replaced my fuel filter also, and was suprised at how much smoother it runs, but I, too, need a new TPS. I've got about 160,000 miles, and I doubt the person before me did much maintenance on this car. They let it rust and didn't change any fluids...If I could get my hands on that turkey....Anyway, If you guys come up with a source and price for a TPS, let me know. Thanks!

i can get them for $36+tax
i suppose i could ship them, but i have to be a schmuck and charge $5 for my services. so $36+tax=$38.?? shipped is $38.??+$5+shipping.

This happened to me!

The solution for my car was getting a new Mass Air Flow sensor.
Get one from the junkyard and see if this works. One junkyard owner told me that if I bought the MAF from him he would take it back if it did not solve the problem. He was charging me $100 for it.

1st stop, injectors

Fuel filter already done, who can tell me the procedure for checking the injectors? (amps, volts, continuity)? How tough are they to replace, and how much should I expect to pay for them? As far as the MAF, any recommenations? One from an old yard car is as likely to be trash as this one, is there a signal that can be tested A code that would be set in the computer?
