I just got a 1989 Maxima. The air bag dash light is on all the time. I don't see any markings on the stearing wheel saying air bag, so I pulled off the cover. NO AIR bag.

I saw another 89 Maxima and it had NO air bag light on the dash so don't know what to think.

Possibly the air bag light was on because the cauge cluster had been switched with a 91+ max.

the 90 and 91 I think had optional airbags, then in 92 the airbags became standard on the Maxima. I may be off a year or two, but I know at least the 92 and up models all have airbags.
