Skymax hosted them, but this is my write up and images.

Are there any light output advantages to these E36 headlights or is it just for an aesthetic look?

to my knowledge better cut off. the 9006/5 system generally have better output than 9004.

I don't recall what he moved on to.
Thank you for the words. I think I was the second person to mod E36 lights. Need4power was the first. That's actually a big part of how I found the forums and joined, seeing his black 3rd gen with the US Specs. I wanted him to do a write up, but he wouldn't because he said he had a shop do it.

I'm confused about which "these" you're referring to. IMO, the US Spec E36 (non-hid and non-projector) are a 50-75% improvement over stock. Add hid and you're probably 75-100% over stock. I don't think HID adds any more improvement in this setup due to the fact the housings were not intended for hid.

Euro Spec E36 (non-hid with projector) are 125-150% improvement over stock. Add hid to the projector and you are easily 150-200% improved over stock. My opinion is based on personal experience, as I've run each setup, including the black housing/dual projector eBay setup.

That might not be a bad idea at all for those still looking to do the conversion.. post a number of pics at different angles too for anyone looking to fab their own if they can...did you find a 3rd gen in the yard with the e36 headlights? I wonder? I bet it probably would have belonged to another member here at one point.
