Can I add tweeters to stock bose system?

Tweeters to Bose
Before I replaced it all, I had added tweeters to the rear Bose speakers. I had them in there for many months, but no negative effects. Just connected the wires to the speaker and ran them through a crossover capacitor to give me about a 5000 Hz cut of frequency. DO use a high XO frequency as the Bose spekers (especially the rear) have a huge amount of bass boost in their built in equalization.
