Soon to install 6.5 components-wiring & mounting question
I have a set of Rockford FNX2614 that I intend to mount in the front doors.
1st question:
I have 16ga OFC speaker cable that I will use to run the separate lines from the crossover that will be trunk mounted. What's the best way to get the wire into the door and make it invisible? Is there a way to do it that would not involve removing the door hinges?
2nd question:
Is there an easier way to convert my stock 4x6 pods for use with my 6.5? I went to a stereo shop and he showed me a piece of platic for $13.00 bucks. He's crazy. I think I'll just cut off the 4x6 pod. Is there a better way? The mounting ring he had (plastic) was $8.00. I was thinking of making one like Matt93SE out of wood, but don't quite have the "know-how" of power tools (although I have the availablity). Is there an easy way?
3rd question:
If I use a foam sound baffle behind the woofers, how necessary will it be to dynamat the door?
4th question:
Tweeter mounting is a subject that escapes me. I found someone that knows how to do it, but we lost touch. Can I get away with using the wedge mount without it looking ghetto? I want a stock looking install (although that will be hard with my titanium coated mids peeking through the door grilles)
Is there another way?

drill a hole into the side of the door, run your wire through, use a grommit so the speaker lines dont get cut.

cut away the pod until the speakers fit

use the foma baffle anyways, it will keep water from the windows off your speakers

I have flush, wedge, and surface (the eyeball swivel thingy) mount options.
