stereo help
Need help. First my car is a 92 GXE. I got 2 pairs of pioneer 6.5" speakers for the car and I know the front needs an adapter which I will make but what I want to know is can I use the factory amplifier wires and just hook it up to an aftermarket amp? But before I do that my second question is how do I remove the factory speakers?
if you have a small amp that you want to mount in the door you could but can't say that would be the best choice. i would say mount your amp in the trunk then run the wires to the dash and use the wires in the harness as speaker wires and be sure to tape up the amp power wires in the door really well so they don't short out.
If you're talking about the factory amps on both sides of the trunk deck by the speakers, you can not wire those to your aftermarket amp. It will need it's own power ran, remote, A/V Cables, and a ground you'll have to bolt down somewhere in the trunk.
If that's not what you meant, just disregard that.

well I found this site that has the amp colour codes http://www3.sympatico.ca/snarayan/wirecode.html only problem that I have is the rca cables, I'm guessing that I probably need an adapter like this http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...04&catid=25877 so that I could split the 2 rca harness adapters into 4 so I would run 2 to the aftermarket amp and 2 to my subs
What is the amplifier going to be powering? The rear speakers? If the amp is just going to be powering the subwoofer you'd just run RCA cables from the headunit to the amp, then another pair/speaker wire from the amp to subwoofer. I'm not sure what you're asking though.
Ah, ok. You don't have more than one preamp output on your headunit? Many newer one's have at least three. Regardless, the y-cables should work, you may have to play with settings (gain) to get them just right. If all else fails you could get a crossover.
